FOR IMMEDIATE PRESS RELEASE:
December 31, 2024

Brookfield, CT / December, 2024 – Handy Dandy HandyMan, a beacon of hope and generosity for the vulnerable in the greater Danbury area, announces a leadership change.

Introduction:

After 25+ years of dedicated service, Peter Brady, the esteemed President of the Handy Dandy Handyman charity has decided to retire from the organization effective January 1, 2025. We express our deepest appreciation to this hometown hero for his unwavering commitment, inspirational leadership, and transformative acts of love and mercy offered to those in need in the community.

Outgoing Leader Information:

Peter Brady aka “The Bossman” has been the driving force behind countless good works at Handy Dandy Handyman ministry. He dedicated his retirement years to providing a helping hand to people battling challenging circumstances. Pete felt a calling to form the HDHM ministry from a Bible reading and homily he heard at church one Sunday and intended for HDHM to be an ecumenical ministry that brings individuals and families together with a shared purpose grounded in Christian principles. Pete and his organization have done countless good deeds for neighbors in need over the past 25 years including home makeovers, rides to seniors for medical appointments and church services, support of families and single mom’s, many with special needs’ children, support of veterans and first responders and the infamous Rake-N-Bake which brought thousands of volunteers together each year to rake senior’s lawns in the name of the Lord. Pete’s legacy, sense of humor and warm heart will forever inspire the community.

Incoming Leader Information:

We are delighted to welcome Chris DeMarco as the new President of HDHM. Chris has spent the last 35 years in corporate America, raising 3 amazing children with his incredible wife Denise and volunteering at multiple charities including HDHM, Jericho Partnership and more recently Hillside Food Pantry and 21 Strong. He has a knack for facilitating cross agency collaboration to maximize impact. For example, he has brought Jericho and HDHM and his Candlewood Lake Club community together to help numerous hard working and faith filled families during the holidays.

Chris is humbled and feels blessed to take on this leadership role in the ministry and although Pete has announced his retirement, he has committed to acting as an Advisor to Chris into the foreseeable future. With Pete’s support as Advisor and Mentor and with guidance and inspiration from the Holy Spirit, Chris hopes to continue the great works of the organization. Chris does not intend to make many changes to the ministry but is excited to refresh certain legacy programs such as Pete’s Repeats while leveraging social media to increase HDHM awareness, excitement and engagement.
