HDHM has a variety of programs that help people in the community.
Pete’s Helping Hand:
Various Fundraisers throughout the year to help people in the Greater Danbury Community and on occasion beyond, in crisis. Helping Hand fundraiser examples over the years include:
Father seriously injured at work unable to provide food / rent for his family of 5
Single mom working 70 hours at Taco Bell with autistic child behind on rent
Vietnam Veteran with disability living in home in disrepair / squalor
Senior citizen in mobile park unable to pay for leaking roof repair
Homeless mother and 6 year old daughter living out of car
Single mom with 12 year old boy battling non hodgkin's lymphoma unable to work during intensive chemo treatments

Adopt-A-Family For Christmas:
Christmas fundraiser where Santa provides gifts for children who would not otherwise receive and financial assistance to parent(s). Support of 3-5 families:
Families are identified through food pantries, local churches, medical clinics, word of mouth, etc.
Parent(s) / Guardians provide Santa with a wish list for their children. HDHM provides gifts either Christmas Eve or at an after Christmas celebration.

Pete’s Punch List:
Handyman services to tackle minor home repairs for seniors, single moms:
Clients are identified through food pantries, local churches, word of mouth, etc. Client provides a prioritized punch list of urgent minor to moderate repairs.
HDHM recruits local volunteers and contractors to spend the day working through the list. HDHM will work the day to try to complete as many jobs on list as possible.
